From the Juror, Amy Hollan:
This show reminds us how much our spirits are moved by music! Best in Show winner, The Birdhouse by Andrew Butler, stuns by transforming unused musical instrument parts such as piano keys, resonance olds, organ tabs, and a guitar harp into a freestanding structure where music takes wing. This hopeful and innovative work of art is a perfect representation of STCEA’s mission to do good in the world through art, as 100% of the show’s proceeds benefit the Community Music Project to help bring music performances and education in Jamestown, New York.
Award of Distinction winners for their creativity and artistic merit include Jessica Hansen for the rockin’ commissioned portrait Randy Rhoads Flying V’s, O Yemi Tubi for a beautifully executed Prince tribute portrait PRINCE: Purple Rain, Music Rain, and Patricia Hoye for a poignant portrait of an inspiring young musician in Inspired Only by the Drummer.
